VOWS Cares Closet Upkeep
Brief Organizational Description:
VOWS Foundation is dedicated to inspiring black and brown communities to: live a life of power through trauma release methods, gain awareness through emotional education exercises and learn empathy through community outreach and volunteerism.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Our Cares Closet is at Armstrong High School, and its purpose is to give youth access to free basic necessities so they are able to focus on the much bigger issues they must deal with daily. A volunteers purpose is to simply keep a bright attitude and keep the space clean and organized. We want to provide an environment where the students have something to look forward to throughout the day.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Cares Closet volunteers will be separating, folding and hanging clothes, organizing and sanitizing shoes, organizing and keeping count of perishable food items by filling out log, and organizing and keeping count of school supplies by filling out log.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
No qualifications or skills needed, just a smile and a desire to help. Small background checks will be performed as we are inside of a public school near minors.
Time Commitment:
The Cares Closet is open Mon-Fri from 9am until 3pm. Volunteers are asked to register for a full three-hour shift.
If that day and time doesn’t work for you we are willing to work with you.
Other Information (if applicable):
When you get to the school you will have to pass through a metal detector. Once through proceed to the Main Office to get a visitors pass. Let them know you are here to help out with the pantry.
As a new volunteer with VOWS you will go through a brief virtual training of who we are and what we expect. Once registered to volunteer check your email for the link.
No special attire recommended, just come appropriate to be around children and ready to tidy up.
We are a 501c3 non profit organization and are able provide proof of volunteer hours if needed.
