Hammers & Ales: Community Build & Brews

Help Make ToolBank's 9th Annual Hammners & Ales Our Best Yet!

Event Description and Purpose:
Hammers & Ales is Richmond's only Party with a Purpose and we need YOUR help to host another amazing event!  This event celebrates Richmond's parks, public places, and the people that make them thrive. Volunteers help ToolBank staff provide a great experience to hundreds of folks who come out to build outdoor furniture that will be installed at local parks and schools. We provide the tools, materials, instructions, and support; community members sponsor a project and build it on-site. After the event, we distribute the built items to their new homes. Visitors enjoy music, beverages, and food from local vendors.

Hammers & Ales Features LIVE MUSIC, LOCAL BEER  &  FOOD TRUCKS, GAMES & EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:

Volunteers will help us set up work stations and make the event space inviting, safe, and super fun for all of our visitors. Adult volunteers may be asked to assist with guiding visitors to parking lots.

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:

Volunteers do not need any special skills or abilities, but it's important to know that this role requires some lifting, walking, and following written and verbal instructions.

Time Commitment:
Volunteer shifts are 5 hours long with plenty of break time given. We respectfully expect volunteers to stay for the duration of their shift

Other Information (if applicable):

  • All volunteer hours will be recorded within 72 hours of the event
  • Every volunteer receives an assignment and clear instructions for how to execute the requested tasks
  • Volunteers should wear close-toed shoes and very comfortable clothing that they don't mind getting a little dirty
  • Parking will be available right next to the event with clearly marked signs
  • Bring a refillable water bottle and an extra shirt in case you get wet
