Herbal Workshop - Broad Rock Community Garden
Brief Organizational Description:
An opportunity with Richmond Grows Gardens, a program of Richmond City Parks and Recreation. Richmond Grows Gardens is hosting a medicinal plant workshop at the Broad Rock Community Garden! In this workshop we will have group discussions about how to use herbs and plants to cultivate resiliency, and to have more agency and power over our health and wellness.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Volunteers will learn how to care for the plants and how plants can care for us in return. Folks will be able to experience an herbal tea tasting and receive an informational zine about the herbs we are growing. We will also be planting herbs from our greenhouse in the community herb garden bed.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers should dress to be outside for multiple hours, and wear clothes they won’t mind getting messy, as we will be doing some planting in the dirt! Please bring a mug or a cup for the tea tasking We will meet at the shelter, and move to the garden eventually to plant. Richmond Grows gardens will be providing gloves, and gardening tools.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
We welcome all levels of experience!
Time Commitment:
3 hours (11am- 2pm)
Other Information (if applicable):
- We can mark attendance in the system
- We will train on site as needed
- Bring a waterbottle and gloves. We do have extra gloves and all the tools you'll need.
- There is street parking
Age Minimum (with Adult): 1+, Minimum Age:18+, Court Ordered Volunteer - Allowed
