Inaugural Day of Service: Moving Richmond Forward Together at Reedy Creek
Southside ReLeaf invites you to join us as we support the "Day of Service: Moving Richmond Forward Together" intiative of incumbent Mayor of Richmond, Danny Avula!
Brief Organizational Description:
Our mission is to improve health outcomes and the quality of life for Southside Richmond by building green spaces and advocating for people-centered policy.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
We will be cleaning up any trash and debris found along the path and property in an effort to maintain a healthy wetland park.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers will be using trash grabbers, gloved hands and trash bags to retrieve and remove trash and debris from the Reedy Creek Wetland. Removal may include bending, lifting, pushing, and carrying up to 35 pounds.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
No special skills are required to be successful in this project.
Time Commitment:
Saturday, January 11, 2025 10 - 2p (4 hours)
-We will conclude the workday when all the visible trash has been retrieved, which may be significantly earlier than 2p.
Other Information (if applicable):
- Volunteers will be marked in the CFEngage system. If you need a signature to document attendance, please bring your form with you.
- Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Boots are preferred.
- Parking will be in a residential neighborhood on the street. The address you may look up to get you there is 6102 Lamar Dr. Parking anywhere nearby is sufficient. Please do not block driveways or mailboxes.
- Please bring a refillable water bottle. You are welcome to bring your own gloves. Gloves will be provided.
Volunteers who sign up for Inaugural Day of Service projects are invited to join us for a Kickoff event on Friday January 10th from 4-6 pm at Midtown Green. You will receive a link to register after you sign up for the volunteer project. Thank you for your participation!
