Inaugural Day of Service: Moving Richmond Forward Together at Ernest Rd.
Southside ReLeaf invites you to join us as we support the "Day of Service: Moving Richmond Forward Together" intiative of incumbent Mayor of Richmond, Danny Avula!
Brief Organizational Description:
Our mission is to improve health outcomes and the quality of life for Southside Richmond by building green spaces and advocating for people-centered policy.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
As we continue working on creating a new park space on the Southside, this phase of the project involves clearing out areas to be reseeded and replanted with natives. As a volunteer, you will assist us in clearing these areas by raking English Ivy vines.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers will be removing English Ivy vines with rakes. Removal may include bending and kneeling.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
No special skills are required to be successful in this project.
Time Commitment:
Saturday, January 11, 2025 10a - 2p (4 hours)
Other Information (if applicable):
- Volunteers will be marked in the CFEngage system. If you need a signature to document attendance, please bring your form with you.
- Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Boots are recommended.
- Parking will be in a residential neighborhood on the street. The address you may look up to get you there is 2913 Ernest Rd. Parking anywhere nearby is sufficient. Please do not block driveways or mailboxes.
- Please bring a refillable water bottle. You are welcome to bring your own gloves. Gloves will be provided.
- If you arrive late, you will see an area that has a No Parking sign. Walk back and then to the right, and you will find us.
Volunteers who sign up for Inaugural Day of Service projects are invited to join us for a Kickoff event on Friday January 10th from 4-6 pm at Midtown Green. You will receive a link to register after you sign up for the volunteer project. Thank you for your participation!
