Inaugural Day of Service: Trash Pick-Up at Byrd Park
Brief Organizational Description:
Friends of Byrd Park are volunteer stewards of 287 acres of park land in the heart of the City of Richmond. We help promote, improve, conserve and protect the natural, historic and recreational resources of Byrd Park for all the citizens of Richmond and visitors to our City.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Byrd Park welcomes visitors to participate in all sorts of activities including fishing, bird watching, dog walking, exercise, and pick-up games of all sorts. Unfortunately sometim trash is left behind, so there is always a need for trash pick up
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers will walk different areas of the park retrieving trash,
Time Commitment:
1-3 pm
Other Information (if applicable):
Volunteers should meet at the Round House in Byrd Park (621 Westover Rd). Parking is on the street. Wear gloves and bring a bucket for collecting trash. Trash pickers/grabbers will be provided. If you need to log volunteer hours, please bring a volunteer log.
Volunteers who sign up for Inaugural Day of Service projects are invited to join us for a Kickoff event on Friday January 10th from 4-6 pm at Midtown Green. You will receive a link to register after you sign up for the volunteer project. Thank you for your participation!
