Dave Tate Day of Service
This annual day of service honors Dave Tate, a beloved arborist, who passed away in 2013. Local arborist companies dedicate the morning to a city park each year. This year, they will convene to prune the upper canopy of mature trees on the east side of Shields Lake in Byrd Park. Family and friends of Dave and the arborists will join Parks and Recreation, Capital Trees, and the Friends of Byrd Park for a tree planting, and Maymont’s horticulturalist will lead a planting and beautification project in the Shields Lake parking lot.
Brief Organizational Description:
This is a treasured day by my family, remembering David. Depression is a point we all need to spearhead in all our connections. The topic is overlooked. Our fam has plans to get together afterword, as always, and share an experience we had with Dave. My brother had a powerful presence with work ethic and love of our craft. He drives me every day! Thank you for your presence.

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:

Plug Planting and Parking Lot Beautification with Maymont's horticulturalist
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
Just bring a willingness to get your hands in the dirt.
Time Commitment:
Kickoff begins at 9am, then we will move to our workzones and wrap up between Noon and 1 o'clock to share a lunch.
Other Information (if applicable):
- Dress comfortably in layers and wear closed toe shoes.
- Bring a reusable water bottle and protection from the elements.
